When reconnects look like engagement
A flaky edge can trigger a reconnect storm that looks, from afar, like a busy afternoon. New session IDs appear; engagement metrics climb; support still hears that people lost their place mid-task.
Look for short-lived sessions that share device fingerprints within seconds of a prior end. Those clusters are often recovery attempts, not fresh intent.
Product and analytics owners should agree on a reconnect definition before quarterly reviews. Otherwise every team can honestly defend a different chart.
